An engagement session between the Bahagian Pengurusan Integriti Agensi (BPIA), Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) and the Association of Certified Integrity Officers (ACeIO) was successfully held on Monday, 10 August 2026.

The session was chaired by KPKPj Puan Hamidah Aziz, Deputy Director of BPIA, SPRM, together with her delegation, and provided a meaningful platform for open engagement and constructive dialogue between SPRM and ACEIO representatives.

The ACeIO delegation was led by Farizal Muzaffar Hafiz, together with Deputy President of ACeIO, Puan Nurirdzuana Ismail, and comprised 17 representatives, including representatives from Sabah and Sarawak.

The engagement focused on understanding the challenges, issues and responses faced by Chief Integrity Officers (CIOs) and integrity practitioners across both the public and private sectors, viewed through the practical lens and experiences of ACeIO members.

Among the key areas discussed were:

1. Challenges encountered by CIOs and integrity practitioners in executing their roles and responsibilities effectively
2. Organisational and governance challenges affecting the implementation of integrity and anti-corruption initiatives.
3. Practical issues faced in strengthening integrity culture and securing organisational commitment.
4. Challenges in managing complaints, investigations, integrity risks and other emerging integrity-related matters.
5. The evolving role and expectations of integrity officers in both public and private sector organisations.
6. The need for greater professional support, capacity building and knowledge sharing among integrity practitioners.
7. Opportunities to strengthen collaboration and communication between SPRM/BPIA and ACeIO.

A Fruitful Platform for Dialogue and Knowledge Sharing

The session provided a positive, open and fruitful platform for participants to share their experiences, concerns, observations and perspectives based on their respective organisational environments.

The diverse participation of ACeIO representatives from various sectors, including Sabah and Sarawak, contributed valuable perspectives on the realities and challenges faced by integrity practitioners across different organisations and regions in Malaysia.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of maintaining continuous engagement between SPRM, BPIA and the integrity profession to ensure that policies, guidance and integrity initiatives remain practical, relevant and responsive to the needs of organisations.

Strengthening the Integrity Ecosystem

The engagement reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between enforcement agencies and integrity practitioners in strengthening Malaysia’s overall integrity and anti-corruption ecosystem.

ACeIO recognises the important role played by BPIA and SPRM in providing guidance, professional support and strategic direction to integrity practitioners. At the same time, ACeIO remains committed to serving as a platform for its members to share practical experiences and contribute constructive perspectives towards strengthening integrity practices across the public and private sectors.

The session also demonstrated that continuous two-way engagement is essential in bridging policy expectations with practical realities on the ground, particularly as the role of integrity officers continues to evolve in response to emerging governance, compliance and organisational challenges.

Looking Ahead

ACeIO looks forward to continuing its engagement and collaboration with BPIA and SPRM through further dialogue, knowledge sharing and professional development initiatives.

The session concluded on a positive note, with a shared commitment towards strengthening the capacity, credibility and effectiveness of integrity officers and advancing a stronger culture of integrity, accountability and good governance across Malaysia.
